Interview with Andrew Jacobs, star of 'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones'

Since 2007 the Paranormal Activity movies have had a four year long stretch that has been wildly successful in gaining a huge fan base with its thrilling "found footage style" horror film series. Starring in the newest continuation "Paranormal Activity- The Marked Ones" is Andrew Jacobs playing the role of the main character Jesse, a recent graduate living at home with a tight-knit family in inner city Los Angeles. 

"I don't think it was (aimed) just at Los Angeles," Jacobs commented when asked about the films demographic  "I think it was supposed to just be about two friends and having it start off with that romantic comedy feel....you know with getting girls and parties. It was supposed to show the pattern of events between two friends. With the story line you could be anywhere around the world, in India even, wherever. And with that kind of close relationships between people that's how it would play out."

As a fan of the series and a ghost geek myself I couldn't help but ask if anything supernatural actually did happen on set. Though he confirmed that nothing had, Jacobs did describe to me some of creepy locations used for filming having a certain "energy" surrounding them, including one actually owned by a "witch".

Social networks have blown up with viewer commentary since the release of "The Marked Ones", and some fans expressed a confusion over why certain questions from the previous films were not answered or given a sense of closure. But the young actor had a more positive insight on the subject. The Marked ones was in fact not a "sequel" per say.

"There's definitely gonna be more (movies)." said Jacobs, "I'm pretty sure they're coming out with a fifth one on October 24th or 25th.... Unfortunately the 4th one wasn't the greatest and was causing paranormal fans to lose hope. So with "The Marked Ones" it just gives it a whole different direction to go in and even a possible series. It really opens up a lot of doors."

With even more suspense now built upon a story shrouded in so much shadow and constantly adding mystery, we can only hope that things are going to get much more intense with what lies in store.

In reaching out to his fans at the end of our interview. Jacobs opened up on a personal level, mentioning his own life struggles in  being adopted, dealing with gang violence, and trying to rise above to get a chance at a better life. Jacobs encourages other aspiring talents to keep the faith and persevere.

"I had to work through a lot...... So if I was to tell them anything, it would be to just live your dream and do something you love through it (all)."

The Uninvited Wedding Guest

When I was fourteen years old, I picked up the hobby of photography and began putting my profession portfolio together in hopes to start a career later on. I was quickly able to bring attention to my art and gain clients. In the summer of 2008, one of my cousins asked if I would be the photographer at her wedding. The ceremony would be held at the old Silent Movie Theatre on Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood. Growing up in Los Angeles, I hadn't thought to look up the history of the place, as I assumed it to be just another novelty of the movie tourism appeal. Little did I know that I was walking into a location well known to still be the home of two of the previous owners, and possibly others. 

Opened in 1945 by the first owner, John Hampton, he lived in the attached upper floor apartment with his wife before death. In bringing back to life the black and white films he treasured so dearly, he paid the ultimate price with his life, from the deadly toxins used in his at home bathtub experiments, necessary for their restoration. He was diagnosed with cancer in 1970 and later died in 1990. Lawrence Austin was quick to take over but didn't last long as he was shot and killed during a show in 1997. 

As somewhat of a recent horror tale, sightings of full body apparitions have been spotted by a few (including the new owner Charlie Lustman), but it may take a few more years before it becomes as famous as some other attractions in the downtown area. I didn't expect much when I walked under the Vine covered outside announcement board, but as soon as I entered the lobby, I felt as though I had walked into a dark pit of a sadness. Even with the lights turned on, the room could not be illuminated. It was as if the eyes of movie stars past were silently observing me from their places in frames on the walls. I had begun to take pictures from the moment I had arrived, but each one was coming out blurred and distorted, no matter the settings on my camera.

Going up the winding staircase, my cousin was using the apartment quarters as a bridal dressing room. All of the bride’s maids fluttered around her in a mad rush to put on her dress and make up. It was not the usual air of happiness that inhabited a room of woman before a wedding. The room was still filled with the old fashion love seats, clothing, and paraphernalia of the previous owners. A full length antique mirror on the far side of the room seemed to be a emitting a cold air from it. I continued to snap pictures while trying desperate not to look, as a sense of dread overwhelmed me. Against my efforts, it was impossible not to notice the woman in the mirror, blonde hair in a neat bun, and a long pink gown. Her expressionless face just stared. I quickly rushed downstairs and told no one of the situation not wanting to risk ruining the wedding.

The rest of the ceremony went as planned, though all the pictures came out with strange orbs and colorful wisps of light behind the guests. I have found no written account of who the woman in the mirror may have been. But if you’re ever in Hollywood around Halloween, maybe you should visit. It is said to be the spirits’ favorite night.

The Weeping Woman

Los Angeles, California, the heart of several of America's most chilling legends and ghost stories. Among the most popular, the Latin folk lore of "La Llorona", literally translated in English as "The Weeping Woman". Legend has it she was once a beautiful woman named Maria who was quite fond of her own beauty and believed that as a result she could have any man she chose. Maria found a handsome "Ranchero" (or Rancher) named Marcos whom she married (though the names differ depending on culture groups). Their two children, she later blamed unfairly for her husband’s infidelity. 

Some say it was in a fit of rage and despair that she drowned her babies in a nearby river, while others say she was not sane and did so only to spite Marcos. Though she took her own life in immediate regret, it was too late. Maria was not allowed in at the gates of heaven when she could not say where her lost children were. And so she was cursed to walk the earth in a state of limbo until she could find their souls.

For hundreds of years, numerous variations of her sad tale have been told, but her famous cry of "mis hijos" (translated; my children) gave her the frightening Spanish nickname of La Llorona. Although several Los Angelinos claim to have witnessed her haunting Echo Park Lake as far back as the 1960's, the sightings stretch far and wide across the states and beyond. 

It has retained an air of mystery to the legends origin, as she has been known to linger around any body of water she can find. 

Perhaps she cannot remember where she performed the murders, or her children passed on peacefully without their mother as punishment for her wretched deeds. If you grew up in LA, you were very likely told this story by one of your older relatives as a warning to stay inside at night, unless you wanted La Llorona to find you and take you by mistake for one of her own.

One witness, told me about a well-remembered story of his father, Francisco Segura, and the terrifying run in he experienced with her ghost in Michoacan Mexico near La Angostura in the 1930's. Being told that that La Llorona would always come out at 11pm, Segura and some friends attempted to prove their bravery by finding her only to be chased away by the "floating woman screaming and crying, for her kids, with fire in her mouth". 

This added detail was not unheard of in Mexico, as another known traveler of the 1930s had once said he too had seen a woman of similar description while in the woods. Asking if she was alright, he and his horse were scared half to death when she turned around, revealing her identity and breathing out fire.

As legend grows and curious minds search deeper for a meaning, people very commonly reference back to the Aztecs in Tenochtitlan, saying that La Llorona was based off a story of their goddess who wanted to warn her children of wars and destruction to come. 

For the skeptics, the story is just that. Simply a result of years and years of Hispanic culture, weaving together a tapestry of their own imagination, creating a way to make life a little more interesting as we all do once in a while. 

But the sightings of the wailing phantom grow every year, as do those brave souls willing to face the terrors of the night waters, and see if La Llorona can make them scream.

Personal Demonic Experience

The time was 1:30-2:00 am when I first felt the negative entity pushing upon me in our living room. I had been ill and was sleeping in the chair to avoid lying flat. I was unable to breathe if I was flat on a bed. I saw the demon with my eyes. It was standing near the stationary bike then I saw it in the hallway. It just stared back at me with it dark hallow eyes. It was black all over and had horns protruding from its head. I could sense what it was capable of. It could have killed me. I also heard it speak to me using telepathy.

I feared this thing and didn’t know what to do when it attempted to get inside me. It was able to accomplish this task and I felt some of what it knew. The evil this demon possessed was incredible. I felt as it came from the state of Conn. It never told me its name, I just knew. The presence of this negative entity was overwhelming. It could smell my fear and it told me so. I was able to push it out of me by rehashing what I knew about the church. I called upon God, Jesus, the angels, especially St. Michael.

After St. Michael came, he realized that I was in need of his help and he surrounded me with more angels—actually hundreds of them and they pushed this entity out of my house. The only thing I can say is that it looked like a bunch of marshmallows pushing out a piece of crap. I was so relieved to know that it was gone.

This entire ordeal when on for hours because I finally fell asleep for a short time until morning came. When my husband woke, he told me that something had its hand over his mouth and sat on him. He told the being to F--- Off and it left him alone. Instead, it wanted to come after me. I found it within myself to fight it off even though I had Nightquil in my body because of my illness. I was still able to keep it from completely entering me. Remnants of this negative entity remained in our home for a few hours afterwards.

I felt that this was a test for me from God. I knew that I brought this thing into my home, but why, I still do not know or understand. I am wiser and now know that these things can and will physically harm us. I now possess a greater respect for what God deals with daily.

This taught me to think positive thoughts instead of rooting upon the negative!

Clearing with the sun's energy

We have all been in need of clearing our energy after enduring a rough conversation or watching a horror flick; each of these are difficult to shake or forget. These energies tend to stay with us for the long run. They grab hold and refuse to let go. These kinds of energies penetrate our very soul when we hang on to them and don’t clear them deliberately, purposefully.

I have discovered that after a harsh day at work I need rid my body of the thick, tension that I consider unhealthy. It is wise to find ways of letting go or releasing the stress that builds up after each day, besides exercise, the sun is helpful in many ways. Some people take salt water baths with sea salt or they might toss in their favorite herbs, while others go and stand in the sun.

The sun is the perfect clearing device for everyone. It not only provides our skin with vitamin D, but it helps to vanish whatever energies are unwanted by our bodies. The sun is the perfect meditation when used correctly.

When people think of the sun, they mull over sunbathing, swimming, or growing plants. It also assists our body in getting rid of the harmful efforts that continue to plague our bodies throughout our lives. The sun is in reality, a healing source. It was revered by many ancient peoples and today, it is our main source of light and in many parts of the world, it helps to make electricity.

Light has been known to heal old wounds and to encourage energetic healing within, if the person’s belief systems are directed correctly down that path. When light is shined upon the body, it reacts in many varied ways. It wants to heal itself. The body has a basic need to heal. When injured the skin goes to work immediately to reclaim the area damaged by forming a perfect seal to ensure it heals properly, and the sun enables our energetic bodies to heal in the same fashion.

After observing horrific images one can go outside and stand in the sun for a few minutes and ask for the healing to begin. The warmth dives deep within our cells and circulates throughout our body as healing is performed to melt the visions of what we swallowed with our eyes. It is not an easy task to clear what was seen, but it is possible if you believe in it 100%.

After I sprained my ankle when I was twelve I sat in the sun reading quite a lot; what else could I do? The sun enabled me to not only bring me out of my funk it also encouraged my ankle to heal faster. Instead of enduring the pain that would have significantly brought down my mood, the sun lifted me to new heights. Always thank the sun for any healing. It does it naturally and without permission.

I enjoy a day out like anyone else, and beware that the sun can seduce you into believing it is cooler than it really is. When dehydration takes place, you know that you have spent too much time in the sun. Drink plenty of water and utilize the sun’s healing ability sparingly to induce healing.

Talking 2 Animals

We have all talked to animals at one time or another. And many of us wonder what they are thinking. Whether we are at home or on a walk with our dogs we wonder, do they really listen?
Animal Communication has come into its own within the last thirty or so years, and yielded positive results. When one learns how to talk with the animals it takes patience, perseverance, and lots of confidence. Not everyone succeeded on the first try.

Humans need to have a calm mind and an open heart whenever communicating with animals telepathically. Meditation can help quiet our monkey minds and although not all humans gain a thorough understanding of this silent communication at first, just keep at it, you will eventually get it. It just takes practice.
When I first learned how to talk to the animals, I was just a child, but we soon forget once society informs us that we cannot or should not do that. I took a few courses and regained my telepathic speech once again. Elation was the word I used when I succeeded on the first try. Not to say that I did not have confidence issues, I did.

There are so many wonderful books by authors such as Marta Williams that walk humans through the communication process. “Learning Their Language” was the best book I read by her and it allowed me to relearn without judgment and without criticism. It was easy to absorb and fun too. Once you study this ancient way of communication, the rest of it falls into place. Telepathy will come so easy for you that your animals will not only chat away about their lives, but you will gain a better understanding of what they are experiencing. If they are ill, ask them what is wrong. If they want a different food, ask what they like and don’t like. It’s as easy as that.

I have a cat that talks all the time, silently. There are days that she is quiet and does cat things—then there are the chatty times when I have to tell her that I many other things to do, after I listen to her, of course. Her name is Ruffles and she came to me when she was one day old. This cat could purr at that age and she took to a bottle very quickly. Our Veterinarian was taken by surprise that one so young could actually purr. We connected immediately and to this day we still have a great relationship.

Are you still not convinced? Try it for yourself. Dogs seem to be the easiest to talk to. They are open and happy to share their day with you. Do they need a new ball or a new dish or perhaps a blanket to snuggle with? You have to use your imagination—remember the one that you used when you were a child? Yeah, that is the one and it just wasn’t your imagination—it was real.

I could talk to the bees, flies, dogs, cats, birds, etc. Today is no different. We have two dogs, two cats, and three birds and I have held unique conversations with each. You never know, maybe your animal has something to share with you.

Connecting with Angels

Many believe that angels exist and mingle with humans daily, assisting whenever and where ever they are needed. These divine beings are not only prayed to but are asked to perform miracles when we humans are in need of one. “If you listen closely, you can hear their wings.”

A strong belief in angels varies from culture to culture and society to society. They are divine beings that come to us in dreary times in during pleasant occasions. But do angels really exist? The word angel is from Medieval Latin. The masculine name Angelus derived from the name of this heavenly creature. It comes from the Greek word angelos and means "messenger". These “messengers” bring good tidings and warnings whenever it is warranted.

Angels are depicted as extraordinarily tall beings with long of medium length hair, either male or female, and wear long white robes with a golden or silver robe-belt. Not all angels appear the same way to us humans. They seem to differ according to each situation. A hitch-hiker for example might be an angel in disguise that wishes to relay a message from the afterlife. Or perhaps a child sees angels and can communicate what is being said by them.

Each instance is considered a miracle by some and divine to others. In either case angels can confer with humans at any level. Humans with heightened abilities sense when they are around and listen to their kind words. Some believe that angels are an extension of God and only come when they are called. Whatever you believe, angels are all around us even if you cannot see them.

My personal belief is that angels are always available to us in every situation and in every part of the world. They hear our call and will come in our time of need. The Archangels that are called upon the most are Michael, Metatron, Raphael, Uriel, and Gabriel. They are asked to provide guidance, protection, and healing. Each angel has their own unique way of communicating and offering themselves for the higher good.
Sometimes I feel the angels surrounding me whenever I am asking them to heal the person I am with or working on energetically. I can actually feel their energy and hear their words telepathically. It’s amazing when they hit on immediate issues that the person needs to hear. St. Michael is the main Archangel I work with and his energy and kind demeanor always points me in the correct direction of how to work with each individual.

Michael is also the most called upon Archangel out there and his love, understanding, and tolerance is sought for those needing protection. He loves children and is always there for them whenever they are afraid. His energy is very strong and one can feel when he is around. During a healing he speaks to me and through me. It is incredible the way his gentleness points out what needs to be immediately addressed.

Call upon an Archangel if you feel any negativity circling around you and it will be removed if you concentrate on positive thoughts. Keep a good attitude about life and life will respond with like kind. This is how energy works. The waves exuding from you go out into the world and others will send back the same vibration so call upon the angels for guidance and they will be happy to assist at any given moment.

Assisting Psychic Children

Today’s psychic child knows that if their parents are psychic their stories are believed. Those children feel comfortable about informing their parents whenever they see, hear, or feel anything out of the ordinary or of the paranormal kind. But what if a child has parents that are not tolerant of their child’s sixth sense? These children will suffer when they feel frightened of what they see and cannot turn to their parents for support.
I was one of these children growing up, fearing what I saw and sensed. This is not the way a child should grow up. Inside I felt alone and knew that if I told others I would be put down or shunned because of who I was on the inside. This second sight, as it is termed does not disappear when the child is of a certain age—they do not “grow out of it”.

Teenagers seem to have the toughest time with their spiritual intuition. It can creep up at any moment without notice and take the teen by surprise. The best way to deal with your psychic child is to talk with them. Have in-depth discussions about what they see and hear and when these occurrences take place. Many times the child knows when “the frightening time” is near.

The best way for parents to remedy their child’s fear is to be there for them and never put them down. Verbal punishments can make what they see more horrid and unbearable. Take careful notes and verify with research. This is the only way to capture what is really terrifying the child. After intensive investigation into what is really affecting the child, even after normal household bumps and creaks have been found, keep in mind that psychic children know what is real and what is the settling of the house. They are psychic, after all.

Growing up, there was a spirit party in my room every night and there was nothing I could do about it. The ghosts of those that had passed were not going to leave no matter how much fear I felt. Whenever I covered my head with a blanket, it was only a temporary fix. Having siblings does not help either. They assist only if they are going through what the psychic child is enduring. My sister always told me how stupid I was for talking about what I saw.

Although my visions never disappeared, I eventually found refuge in others who suffered as children as well. I have discussed why I see these things and have come to an understanding that some people are just more sensitive than others when it comes to energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed and those with heightened sensitivities feel them whenever they enter a place where elevated emotions or tragedies took place.

Patience and understanding is what it takes for parents to prepare themselves for their psychic child. If the child finds another like them, and they will, feel blessed when they come to a mutual understanding together. They might even feed off each other and cause further turmoil. Seek the assistance of a professional that has knowledge of what they are enduring. It will not only help slow down or halt their fears, but they will find common ground where they can discuss in greater detail what is going on with them. But always remember to stay calm because sensitive children can feel your anxiety.

Revisiting Past lives

Many people believe they have lived more than one lifetime. Is this even possible? According to Past life Regressionists it is very probable that many of our issues stem from a past life. One such issue might be a fear of frogs where the person was thrown into a pit of poisonous frogs and left to die. Another might be the long-held belief that men or women will never be there for you.

I have personally discovered that when a person regresses they go back to a time that is pertinent to what they are enduring now. They have a chance to see and feel for themselves what actually happened to them during a specified time period. After knowing and gaining a thorough understanding of an incident that had taken place, they can then move past the issue and move on with their life.

My job as a past life regressionist is to assist with past life journeys. I am also a psychic medium and can energetically follow each client through the door to the past life in question and therefore help them understand why certain situations occurred. This knowledge is then carried back with them into their present life where they can consciously make realistic changes.

Within an hour’s time the client will awaken from the past life with certain aha moments. This is where I know I’ve done my job—when someone thanks me with teary eyes and feels lighter energetically because they have seen what held them back for so long. Sometimes just talking about issues does not alleviate the sadness or fear that goes along with that situation.

One such past life regression that sticks out for me was when I regressed a friend. During this lifetime, her daughter was sexually molested by her own father, my friend’s now ex-husband. In the regression my friend was male and his wife’s father molested his own grandchild. The grandchild during the regression is now my friend’s daughter, once again. Sometimes souls have reoccurring lifetimes to “get it right”. Meanwhile during the regression as the male she killed the man and was hung for it. After wakening my friend just knew that she had been hung in a previous lifetime. Many of the pieces fit together for her and she was finally able to understand why she was repeating certain situations and issues. It was actually relieving for her afterwards.
I find regressions such as these “releasing”. Many clients delve deep to let go of things that have plagued them for years. The next regression I found fascinating was when another client had a past life upon another planet. She was what is called a Pleidian (alien) being. When she began this regression she was confused, but I assured her that I was by her side and that the Angels were also there to help guide her “without fear”. Sometimes fear can override everything and inhibit a regression from moving forward.

With the Angels assistance she was able to understand why she thought men never stuck around and why clients were giving her negative reviews. The regression revealed that her energy was heightening and that the clients she was assisting needed to see another healer. She was too strong energetically for those people! Did I mention that she lived in Ireland? I reside in California and what and wonderful feeling it is to talk through Skype.

I really enjoy the reactions of clients when they come out of a regression excited to move forward with their lives. After the regression I take them to the Divine healers to have crystal grid healing done. It is amazing to see, feel, and gaze upon these magnificent beings as they work upon the person before me.
